The central police station at the Bisschop Zwijsenstraat was opened in 1909, but additional police posts were opened at the Wilhelminapark, Korvelplein, Julianapark, Besterdplein, Heuvel and Merelstraat. After the new police headquarters (which itself was demolished later on) had been opened at the Lange Schijfstraat (Noordhoekring) in 1958, the various police posts spread across town were closed, with the exception of the post located at the Wilhelminapark. This one remained in use until 1963.
